A hand colored steel-engraving created by Aaron Arrowsmith and issued in 1805 as part of Abraham Rees’ The New Cyclopaedia, or, Universal Dictionary of the Arts and Sciences. Showing the United States as it looked at the beginning of the 18th century
with 16 states including a Georgia that extends to the Mississippi River and a region of the northwest. Numerous frontier forts and Indian names are depicted throughout the west.
